Union

Home to more than just teenage heartthrob Josh Hutcherson of Hunger Games fame — although that's not a bad conversation starter — Union is one of Northern Kentucky's fastest-growing suburban cities.

Benjamin Piatt Fowler, whose beautifully restored stone home on U.S. Highway 42 remains a Union landmark, once owned much of the land that now comprises the city. Today, Union consists of mostly middle- to upper-class residential communities and small agricultural plots.

Despite its reputation as a peaceful respite from other bustling NKY towns, there's plenty going on in Union. It's home to cultural and family-friendly attractions, including the Boone County Arboretum, a nonprofit botanical preserve that houses thousands of trees and plants of all species and varieties. Other features of the arboretum include a colorful hands-on Children's Garden, Native Kentucky Grasslands and a butterfly-attracting bush collection.
